The lady in question was called May and she lived in the Ardoyne area, and at the time of her speaking to me about 10 years ago she was 80, so she may well have passed away by now. At that time she told me her epiphanic experience had occurred about 30 years previously. She had heart problems and she went into surgery and she clinically died on the operating table. The last thing she remembered was being brought into the operating theatre and then the next thing she knew she was passing along this bright, light tunnel at a great speed, and she came out into an absolute otherworld. The way she described it it was going from two-dimensional black and white into three-dimensional colour, just an awesome place. It was filled with trees and flowers and they were all alive in a way that she couldn't describe except to say that everything shone with this transcendent light. The grass was leading down to the edge of a great shimmering lake, and there were people in white just kind of drifting around, and there was just an overwhelming sense of love and well-being, which she told me was like the very best moment of her life multiplied by a million. She was drawn towards this group of people, and as she was drawn to them there was one human figure who stood out so much more than the others, who she realised was Jesus Christ. Although she couldn't describe his physical features she felt the presence of God in him, that he was just love personified. She remembers thinking that she couldn't quite believe this but she knew she was in her right mind, but at the same time was thinking 'What would my daughter do without me?' and didn't feel that she could leave her daughter behind, despite wanting so much to go with this Jesus figure. At that moment this figure came forward, put out his hand to her and said 'Go back, go back'. Then the next thing she knew she was in the room beside the operating table and they had been resuscitating her there. She said to me "I will never again fear death because I have met Jesus in this most extraordinary place and he is 100% God and 100% man".
